Personalize your Christmas decor with monograms.
Why not decorate the holidays with black and white? After all, the most fabulous presents come in black and white!
Many of us have this preconceived idea that once you grow up, your room should grow out of pink. But if you still love the colour, why let it go? Many style icons take this rosy colour to adulthood and beyond with the utmost elegance or chic playfulness. The Rothchild mansion in the French Riviera and Inez de la Fressange's office just to name a few. Be confident in your favourite rosy colour, play with it, live in it, and that rosy glow on the face shall follow you forever!
I love spending time reading with my family. Although the kind of books we read are very different, we share our love for imagination with each other at the same space the same time. To save trips to read in a coffee shop or the library, I created a space that is warm and enticing, often served with tea, coffee, and cookies with light music in the background. I love the blue room here. To me, it emulates the natural serenity of an ocean. This blue room is very calming to our often racing minds running in all directions. I like using different prints in the same colour scheme to add variation while maintaining consistency. Here I have ikat, stripes, floral, and chinoiserie, all in different shades of blue. Leopard prints work with any colour. They are the fun neutral you can add to any room. The curtain is pale green silk taffeta to softly bring the greens in the yard inside. Favourite objects, some brought back from our travels, some family heirlooms, are everywhere to evoke warm memories we share. This is my daily blue. The good kind of blue!
Do you have a space in the house where you can just snuggle in and daydream? If you don't, you should set one up. My daybed is where I nap, forget about being a grownup and just read, dream, and blog about all the most beautiful places in the world. If a space consists of macho boredoms are called man caves, I am going to call my little dream land petite boudoir. I know my petite boudoir is a bit pink and childish, but that's just how I like it! After all, it is for nobody else but ME.
Who has the time and budget to redecorate the house on a whim? For an instant change, how about redecorating just a little corner? For example, the bedside table.
Have you ever wondered why things always look so much better and more expensive in the stores? And once you bring them home, they just look like the rest of the stuff that you already have. Well, the trick is to display them nicely like the stores do, and you would have them tempting you over and over again, but hey, you already own them! Here, I redecorated my costume jewellery storage into a nice display with cactus, aloe vera, and Russian dolls! Another small redecorating project you can do with little budget and effort any day.
My bedside table sometimes serves as a mini stage to display my imagination of a party or a particular place I want to be, or a style theme that I am loving at the moment. The effort is minimal, and can achieve a whole new feel to your most intimate space....and maybe change your mood or bring you to Paris!
When I feel like a hopeless romantic, even Jane Austen would unfriend me.
Take me to a masquerade in Paris.
